
About the Role
In this role, you will:
Deliver creative therapeutic interventions to pupils with a wide range of emotional, social, and communication needs in the school setting.
Build and maintain good and effective working relationships teaching staff, parents/carers, and our multidisciplinary team to contribute to each pupil’s individualised plan.
Support emotional regulation, social interaction, and self-expression through creative therapies.
Be responsible for assessment of new referrals and management of own caseload in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to progress reviews and reports. To work with in house school record keeping systems while upholding compliance to confidentiality and GDPR.
Be committed to maintaining continual professional development (CPD) with relevant training. This includes that which is required to be kept up to date to adhere to Yarrow Heights’ guidelines and that which is specific to the professional development of a creative therapist.
Attend regular clinical supervision with a qualified supervisor who is a registered therapist and regular line management within Yarrow Heights.
Be open to providing consultation, guidance, and training to school staff, with the view of supporting therapeutic practice within the school environment to achieve better outcomes for pupils.
Be prepared to complete therapy summaries and full reports at the end of each therapeutic intervention.
Attend regular team meetings and in-house CPD events.
Working Hours
08:00 to 16:00 (3 days per week) (Thursdays 08:00-17:00, alternating between staff meeting and self-directed time)
42 weeks per year (term time + agreed INSET)
Requirements
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Art, Music, or Play Therapist to join our therapy team on a part-time basis (3 days per week).
We are looking for someone who:
Is fully qualified and registered with the appropriate professional body (e.g., HCPC, UKCP, BACP, BAPT, PTUK etc.)
Has experience working with children and young people, ideally within a SEN or therapeutic school setting
Is proactive, empathetic, and creative in their therapeutic approach
Has excellent communication and report-writing skills
Is a strong team player with a calm and reflective manner
This role would suit a therapist with a passion for supporting vulnerable young people and who thrives in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Yarrow Heights School is a mixed 7-19, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs.
