About the Role

We are seeking an unqualified maths teacher (Maths tutor), delivering between 18 to 22 maths lessons per week.
You will teach children aged between 11 and 14 years of age (Year 7 to Year 9).
You will be required to plan and deliver your own lessons in line with our school's curriculum. However, you will have extensive support from your colleagues and the school's leadership team at every stage.
You will be responsible for assessing the pupils' progress with support from more experienced colleagues.
Extensive in-house teacher training sessions will be provided for you throughout the academic year.
Once you have passed your probationary period, the school will support you in accessing a teacher training programme. If your application is successful (and dependent on the training programme you select), the school can also finance your training period.
Term Time contract so 13 weeks of paid time-off per year.

Requirements

  • You must have an undergraduate degree in mathematics (preferably with a 2:1 classification or above).

  • Experience of working with children or in other educational establishments is preferable but not vital.

  • Teaching is a very fast-paced job, and lessons must be planned and resourced in advance of their delivery. Therefore, excellent organisational skills are vital.

  • Occasionally, you must be prepared to work outside of the hours of the school day.

Yarrow Heights School is a mixed 7-19, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs.
