About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team and help deliver high-quality teaching and learning for pupils with special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced teacher, or someone with a strong interest in SEN, to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of children and young people. The successful candidate will provide engaging, adapted and inclusive teaching that enables pupils to make measurable academic, social and emotional progress.

You will work closely with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals to ensure learning is tailored to individual needs and EHCP outcomes. The role requires strong planning, assessment and classroom management skills, alongside a commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations for all pupils.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who can bring energy, commitment and a genuine passion for inclusive education. The ideal applicant will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Recent and successful experience of, or a strong interest in, teaching pupils with special educational needs

  • Experience adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs

  • Strong understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment practices

  • Ability to differentiate and personalise learning effectively

  • Effective behaviour management skills and the ability to create a safe, positive learning environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and the ability to contribute to review and target-setting processes

  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, confidentiality and high standards of pupil achievement

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths

  • Experience working with children with autism, SEMH and ADHD is preferred

  • Training in SEN areas such as ADHD, dyslexia or autism is advantageous

  • A valid driving licence is required

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver high-quality, adapted teaching and learning for pupils with special educational needs

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to individual needs and EHCP outcomes

  • Use assessment information to track progress, inform planning and support target-setting

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reporting and annual reviews

  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, colleagues, parents and external professionals

  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, attendance and engagement in school life

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including tutor responsibilities, pastoral support and CPD

About the Company

Yarrow Heights School is a mixed 7-19, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs.
