Pupils in primary and year 7 met with Tom and his guide dog, Toby, on Tuesday. Tom spoke about his life having guide dogs and the training that they take part in. We also learnt that when someone is with a guide dog and the harness is in an upward position the dog is working and should not be interrupted. A guide dog can learn a particular route and where doors are with just one visit.
Tom and Toby are very lucky to have visited the White House, Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty.
We would like to thank Tom and Toby for coming in to school and raising awareness about visual impairment and guide dogs.
